I work in accounting at an office in Nonthaburi.
Yesterday I still can't believe my eyes.
Short version: urgent meeting after work at about 22:15 to check one ledger — which actually belonged to another team. They’d canceled some bills in the afternoon and that team handled it, but the boss said I missed checking it and that caused an error, and we had to fix it tonight. No details given beforehand.
So I had to turn the lights on bright until my eyes burned, sitting there going through formulas with a blue pen in my hand. After about 40 minutes, suddenly they kept pushing me to fix the whole ledger even though the file I’d saved was a different item from the file they were pointing at — I was so confused.
The boss snapped loudly in front of everyone, “If it’s accounting work you need to be careful.” The tone was so harsh, it stung my ears and I went numb — like… totally embarrassed and nervous, and I even typed a formula wrong by accident which made everything look worse T_T
Am I just caring too much? I feel like they made me the scapegoat even though I followed the steps I was assigned, didn’t misfile anything or lose data. I checked according to our team checklist. Yet they yelled at me like that in front of others, and the team involved later admitted it — they told me afterwards — but that tone of voice really stuck with me.
I’m tired, annoyed, and had to go home late even though there’s a month‑start check to do tomorrow. Sighhhhh haha.
Any accounting friends or people who’ve been through this — what should I do? Should I talk to the boss directly, or wait for them to review it internally? Maybe they didn’t mean it, right? This is my first time posting here, sorry if I messed up anything. What do you guys think?
So confused — boss called an urgent meeting at night and suddenly scolded me, why did this happen?
