Sorry, this is my first thread so I might write kinda messy. Sorry in advance if I type nonsense or tell things out of order.
I'm 25, working as a factory worker in Rayong province. Been here almost two years. Most of my shiftmates are nice, but lately there’s been a string of stuff that’s been messing with my nights — I can’t keep my eyes open, wake up in the middle of the night a lot. Around 3:30 AM I’m just like… so uncomfortable, seriously.
It started when a new shift boss came in about a month ago. Seems like a straightforward guy, speaks bluntly, but he orders tasks without explaining why and doesn’t listen to the people actually doing the work. Like he told me to adjust the machine one way and said not to tell the other department managers. Felt weird… like, why all the secrecy? Everyone went quiet.
One day there was a small mistake in a batch, but it wasn’t directly my team’s responsibility. The shift boss blamed only our team even though other departments were involved. I tried to explain it was a misalignment when connecting the conveyor — it takes about 4–5 minutes to open up and inspect and you can see the issue — but he just said “shut up and fix it.” I was like huh?
Then there’s OT. The factory prints OT sheets for whoever wants it, but the shift boss tends to dump night shift work onto people who already get little rest. When someone complains they’re tired, he says if you don’t want it then don’t come to work the next day, he’ll find someone else. That’s harsh, right?
A friend who’s been with me almost two years got moved to mornings and the job he used to do was given to someone who’s the boss’s close buddy. That buddy had never done it before, but when things went wrong the boss didn’t make his buddy take responsibility — he blamed the original guy. My friend was so upset he almost quit. I’m confused and uncomfortable, wondering if I’m just overthinking it.
I tried talking to the boss politely, explained reasons and warned about risks, but his answers are like “work is duty” or “if you want it good you must endure,” like some meeting-room moralizing. But when problems happen he throws blame at lower-level people, like if you don’t have power you take the hit. Super annoying lol.
Once he told me to alter the production record wrongly — change the counts because inspection said it was wrong — but I saw the numbers didn’t match reality so I asked why change it. He said, “Just change it, they won’t check.” I stood there for like two seconds like what about work ethics, but I’m scared if I don’t do it they’ll think I’m not helping the team and then they’ll bully me. Am I just worrying too much?
Another tiring thing is there’s no safe channel to complain. HR should take things, but the person I could talk to was moved after giving feedback, so who can I rely on?
There are smaller things too: toilets break often, breaks are sometimes watched like we’re suspicious, and spare parts go missing a lot. They say it’s the person who logs things’ fault even though warehouse cameras clearly show it, but nobody rewatches footage to hold the right person accountable. It all piles up and makes me feel like everything’s crappy.
I don’t want to cause trouble, but I also don’t want to stay quiet seeing injustice. I’m so uncomfortable T_T Thinking about finding a new job but then travel costs from Rayong and the rising cost of living make the decision hard. Basically it’s tough to decide. Should I quit now or just bear it?
I want opinions — if you were in this situation what would you do? Should I save up and look for another job now, or is there a way to talk to the boss that might actually work? How should I steady myself, guys? (typing kind of fast because I’m shook) lol
Thanks for reading my long post. I might ramble or go in circles, sorry if anything’s off.
P.S. If anyone’s gone through a boss like this and successfully changed jobs, please share your experience. I’d be really grateful.
Confused about my new shift boss at the factory — long post, sorry this is my first time
