Opening a Bank Account
Major banks: Bangkok Bank, Kasikorn (KBank), SCB. You'll need your passport, visa, and Thai address. Some banks allow tourist visa holders to open accounts. KBank or Bangkok Bank are recommended for foreigners.
Phone SIM Card
Major carriers: AIS, TrueMove H, DTAC. Buy SIMs at 7-Eleven or carrier stores. Passport registration required. Plans start at ฿200-300/month.
Transportation
Bangkok: BTS/MRT rail. Grab for ride-hailing. Motorcycle taxis, songthaews, and local buses outside Bangkok. International driving license required for driving.
Healthcare & Hospitals
Public hospitals are affordable, private hospitals offer high quality. Health insurance is recommended. Pharmacies widely available; many medications sold without prescription.
Housing
Condos, apartments, or houses for rent. Typically 2-month deposit + 1 month advance. Check your lease carefully. Electricity, water, and internet are usually separate.
Utilities
Electricity: ฿4-5/unit. Water: ฿18-20/unit. Internet: ฿500-800/month (fiber).

7-Eleven stores are 24/7. Markets are cheaper than supermarkets. Learn basic Thai phrases. Stay calm and always smile.
