Chiang Mai Launches Contemporary Music Festival in City Park, Integrating Arts and Community to Attract Foreign Tourists

The Chiang Mai municipality, together with private partners and local artists, held a contemporary music festival in a city park over the past weekend. The event featured a main stage, an indie stage, and roadside art exhibition spaces, emphasizing a blend of Lanna traditional music with contemporary styles. The atmosphere drew listeners from Chiang Mai and many international tourists, with attendance estimated at around 8,000–10,000 people across the two nights of performances.

Organizers said the festival’s concept was to connect the community, local traditional artists, and contemporary music to create a diverse experience for audiences. In addition to bands, the program included traditional music workshops, demonstrations of Lanna handicrafts, and a local food zone that gave small vendors from nearby neighborhoods a chance to sell their products. The organizing team pledged to incorporate suggestions and coordinate with relevant agencies to implement measures for next year, aiming to keep Chiang Mai a destination where tourists and locals can safely and sustainably experience contemporary culture.
