This Year’s Phitsanulok Local Music Festival Brings in Famous Artists, Blending Culture and Local Cuisine

The annual Phitsanulok music and cultural festival returns this September. Organizers have announced a lineup of local and national artists, along with traditional performances, a youth rap competition, and a local food zone featuring regional specialties—moves expected to attract more visitors from both inside and outside the province.

This year’s event is organized by the Provincial Cultural Council in partnership with the local business association. Its goals go beyond entertainment: organizers aim to revive the grassroots economy after a slowdown in tourism. The event director said they invited traditional ensembles—including khim (dulcimer) groups, ram thon dance troupes, and contemporary bands with broad followings—to combine traditional musical elements with modern rhythms, appealing to both older generations and young people.

A highlight this year is the “Phitsanulok Youth” stage, giving emerging musicians and artists a platform to perform. There will also be workshops teaching traditional instruments, Thai textile crafts, and a local history booth produced in collaboration with the provincial museum, so visitors can learn about cultural context alongside the entertainment.

Local food vendors and OTOP (One Tambon One Product) sellers expressed high hopes that the festival will noticeably increase their incomes—especially the street-food zone showcasing Phitsanulok specialties such as rice noodles with snakehead fish curry, bamboo shoot curry, and local desserts. Organizers are providing parking, security, and sanitation measures to reassure attendees and tourists.

The provincial tourism office has partnered with transport companies to offer travel packages connecting the province’s main attractions, such as Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat Woramahawihan, the national museum, and Khao Din Phitsanulok. The governor said the festival is an opportunity to promote secondary attractions and disperse visitors to outlying communities, increasing income for local residents.

Past attendees said the festival has a warm, friendly atmosphere and the charm of local culture mixed with contemporary performances that don’t feel outdated. Organizers therefore intend to emphasize preserving local identity alongside modern elements and expect several thousand visitors over the event period—helping revive the local economy and giving local artists a chance to grow their audiences.

The Phitsanulok music and cultural festival will be held in the central city park, running from morning until late at night over several consecutive days. Interested parties can follow schedules, ticketing information, and safety measures via the province’s and organizers’ social channels. Attendees are also advised to book accommodations in advance for easier travel during the festival.
