MINISO × LISA global pop-up opens at ICONSIAM, drawing crowds to see exclusive items

ICONSIAM at Charoen Nakhon has become a major destination for K‑POP fans after lifestyle brand MINISO teamed up with BLACKPINK’s Lisa to open the world’s first mini pop-up store in Thailand. The booth features the ALTEREGO collection, fashion accessories, and Thailand‑exclusive items such as a Muay Thai‑inspired bag that blends Thai identity with street style, attracting both tourists and Bangkok residents who queued to view and buy products.

The pop-up was organized to capitalize on the global popularity of Lisa, the Thai singer and dancer who has become an international idol. Fans from Thailand and abroad lined up for the chance to purchase limited‑edition merchandise; some stores imposed purchase limits to give more fans a chance to buy. The event space was styled to match the ALTEREGO theme and included Instagrammable photo corners, which drew entertainment media and bloggers to capture content.

The event was not only an entertainment occasion but also had economic effects on the central district. ICONSIAM’s restaurants, cafes, and retail outlets benefited from the increased number of visitors, boosting retail and tourism‑service revenues during the showcase. It also promoted Bangkok’s image as a destination for global pop culture, prompting local businesses to seek ongoing collaborations with international brands.

However, the large crowds created challenges for space management and safety. Mall staff and district offices coordinated crowd control, queue systems, and public health standards, especially during peak periods when visitors came from many countries. The mall also implemented scheduled time slots to spread visitor flow and avoid congestion at main entrances.

Entertainment and marketing analysts say collaborations between lifestyle brands and local idols like Lisa are an effective strategy in the age of social content, generating viral buzz and short‑term sales while delivering long‑term branding benefits for venues. Shop owners at ICONSIAM reported an increase in young customers and tourists after the event, some of whom have become regular patrons.

Visitors planning to attend were advised to check the pop‑up’s operating hours and booking channels in advance to reduce waiting time. Staff also recommended traveling by BTS or Chao Phraya River boat to avoid local traffic. The event reflects how pop culture can stimulate the local economy and elevate Bangkok’s landmarks into global fan destinations.
