This Year’s Phuket Beach Music Festival Adds Color, Features Thai and International Artists to Appeal to Tourists

Phuket’s annual beach music festival is back this mid-year tourist season. Organizers have announced a varied program and will host both well-known Thai artists and international musicians to appeal to both families and younger visitors looking for nighttime beach activities. Event plans, including food and local handicraft zones, have been arranged to comply with sound safety and crowd-management standards.

For this year’s layout, organizers said the venue will be divided into several zones: a main stage focused on headline concerts; secondary stages for indie bands and DJs playing electronic music; an arts and local food zone; and activities for children and families. Clear opening and closing times for stages have been set to reduce impact on communities living near the beach. Organizers expect several thousand Thai and foreign tourists to attend over the multi-day event.

The Director of Phuket Tourism said the festival is part of efforts to sustainably restore Phuket’s entertainment tourism image following the recovery of international travel after the COVID-19 era. The province is emphasizing cooperation with local businesses—restaurants, hotels, and marine service operators—to spread income to local communities. Event guidelines also include waste management and reducing single-use plastics to keep the beaches clean.

Local restaurant owners and small beach-front operators expect the festival to stimulate temporary hiring and increase income during the low season. One beach restaurant owner said the festival draws more visitors, noticeably boosting food and beverage sales, but also requires preparations for labor needs and inventory management. Coordination with health and rescue agencies is also in place to prepare for emergencies or attendees falling ill.

On environmental conservation, organizers are working with private coastal conservation groups to run beach-cleanup campaigns during the event and set up clearly marked recycling collection points. There will also be workshops to educate tourists about protecting coastal ecosystems and responsible tourism practices, so the festival serves not only as entertainment but also as a platform for raising environmental awareness.

However, some residents near the beach have voiced concerns about noise levels and closing times that could disturb local living conditions. Organizers said they will consult community leaders and implement measures to reduce noise impact—such as adjusting speaker angles and designating zones set back from residential areas—while establishing a complaints monitoring committee during the festival to ensure the event runs smoothly and considers the interests of tourists, businesses, and local residents.
