The Thai government and local authorities have issued statements outlining development plans that focus on safety and sustainability to accommodate potential increases in demand following the ranking.

According to statements from the local tourism office and relevant government agencies, Koh Samui’s newly enhanced image will be used as an opportunity to upgrade services, including improvements to infrastructure, waste management, and stricter safety measures—such as increased monitoring of water and beach quality, visitor assistance systems, and training for tourism workers in customer care and basic first aid. These policies aim to ensure that growth in visitor numbers does not cause negative impacts on communities and local resources.
