I have been learning Thai for 3 months and the word mai gives me headaches. Mai chai means not yes I understand. Mai mee means do not have I understand. But mai ao means do not want? Mai pen rai means no problem? Mai pen means it is nothing? Mai rok means well not really? Mai na means maybe? The more I learn the more confused I get. Asked a Thai friend and they said it depends on context. Oh context! How do Thai people know which one means what? I think Thai is harder than Chinese.
