Sorry guys, I'm new at posting threads so I'm not great at writing. If this comes out messy or too long, sorry in advance.

I'm 38, a factory worker in Khon Kaen, been here about seven years. Plain life, got a wife and a little kid. I really want a quiet life, but this thing's been bugging me.

Short version first. It's quiet now.

Last month a new supervisor came in — assembly line boss. That night around 10:30 he was nice, even praised my soldering and small Phillips-screwdriver skills. But after about two weeks it turned into this — he started making me take responsibility for other people's work. Stuff like fixing small machines, swapping parts with that black rubber glue, stripping tiny wires, handling small technical bits that aren't my job. Pay's the same. And in meetings he praises whoever works faster right in front of everyone, but when problems pop up he pushes them onto me to solve and then says I did it poorly and wasted time. Super confusing.

Some days I'm doing almost two hours of overtime a lot because he tells us to finish it before going home, like "get it done before you leave." But about OT pay I can't get any real response. He says he'll sort it with HR, but it's been almost a month and ten days and nothing. Messages get read and ignored. Sometimes I see him walking and laughing with other department heads and I wonder if I'm overthinking it or being too picky.

I'm not the type to pick fights with supervisors, but the work really has gotten heavier and I've got car payments and baby milk bills at home, so I'm freaking stressed, seriously. But I'm also scared that if I speak up things will get worse — they'll see me as not committed or not a team player. It's like there's a double standard, clear as day.

The worst thing that really hit me was one night I stayed late to help fix a newcomer’s machine and finished around three in the morning. I didn't tell anyone because I thought telling would waste time. The boss found out later, but the next day he praised that other guy in front of everyone and said, "If everyone did this, work would flow." Dead silence. I sat there like, hey I'm right here. That's not fair. Or maybe I'm just being overly sensitive.

People told me to talk straight to the boss and explain my job boundaries, but I'm afraid if I do he'll punish me at work or dump even more on me. I do want to look for a new job, but finding something stable around Khon Kaen with similar pay is hard, and I don't want to abandon coworkers who've had my back all this time.

I'm confused.

Should I just act like it's nothing and save my energy to find a new job? Or should I politely and clearly talk to the boss about what my duties are and demand OT in writing? I'm scared of both options.

Anyone who's worked in factories, please share some advice. What should I do? OP is really asking for real advice here. Thanks a lot T_T
