So my boss keeps calling me at night, and then expects me to hang around waiting until late. What should I do?

I'm 29 and work as a front desk receptionist at a small hotel near the beach in Phuket. Been here almost three years. The other night it happened again — almost 10:40 pm, out of nowhere my boss rings and tells me to come over to talk about room arrangements for a tour group tomorrow. Says it’ll be quick, just walk over. Then there’s practicing answers for guests, checking room backups… I grabbed the room keys and a pen and dragged myself over, exhausted.

So I sat waiting in the office until after midnight — like 1 hour 25 minutes — before we actually talked. My boss basically said they hadn’t finalized anything and told me to wait, we’ll talk tomorrow. Then silence. I was like… what the heck. I was laughing inside but also wtf.

I’m tired, seriously. Sometimes I’m scared to say no ’cause I worry the boss will get mad or dump more work on me, or maybe I’m too soft. Should I set a clear boundary and say don’t call after work unless it’s urgent? Ask straight up that calls after hours are only for real emergencies, not small stuff to discuss at 3am or whatever?

I’ve been thinking so much my eyes are dark and I only sleep from like 10pm to 2am — maybe 3 hours. I’m worn out and overthinking. Is this just the hotel work culture I have to accept, or is it okay to push back? Sometimes I want to casually tell my boss, “After 9:30 pm I log off, only call for emergencies.” Is that okay?
