Hi everyone, first time posting on this board, nice to meet you. I’m not great at writing, so sorry in advance if this comes out messy.
I’m 22 and I’ve been working as a delivery rider in Hua Hin for almost a year now (about 11 months). I start around 07:30, hit traffic a lot, and some days don’t get home until like 21:30–22:00.
The thing is, for the last three months I’ve been having issues with the supervisor at our small downtown center and it’s stressing me out so much I can’t sleep. He controls schedules and assigns runs super strict, but it’s turned into him calling people out and comparing us in front of others a lot. Like he’ll point and say someone was late because they talked too much, or that someone’s work isn’t careful — even though sometimes packages got stuck at the branch, or the sender didn’t confirm, yet we end up getting yelled at anyway.
I got shouted at in front of the group once around 19:30 while I was locking my bike getting ready to go home. I was so embarrassed I wanted to disappear.
The job’s conditions aren’t stable either. Some days they add more work so I get back to the center 1–2 hours later than what was told, and the boss likes to deduct behavior points or money if deliveries are late, but there’s no record or clear paperwork to check. It just feels really unfair. I tried asking politely to talk, saying I want clear reasons if there’s a problem so I can improve, but he just answered with a casual “just do your best” and that was it. I don’t get it.
Some coworkers seem to get better treatment — the boss talks to them more, gives them special storefront runs, good slots. I understand wanting favors, but when it’s me a tiny mistake becomes part of my record, even though I’ve never had a big screw-up. Others have slipped up but didn’t get treated like I do. Am I overthinking this? Or am I bad at keeping the boss pleased? Don’t know.
It’s really messing with me mentally. When I see messages in the group chat from the boss about runs my heart races, hands shake, sometimes I almost cry. When I get home I don’t want to talk to anyone, scared of being scolded in front of people again. I barely get proper rest on days off because I have to watch over a broken bike for nearly two hours, and some mornings I have to help my grandparents sell stuff in front of the house from 5:30am then go straight to work. I’m exhausted. Like really exhausted. It’s torture. hahaha
One weird thing: the boss likes to get me to do tasks outside my duties, like driving to pick up packages hidden behind the warehouse and telling me not to log it in the system. My gut says something’s off about that, but I’m scared of being seen as a troublemaker so I haven’t properly said anything. I’ve kept it to myself for about three months now.
I want advice. Should I have a serious talk with the boss or should I make a backup plan and quit to find an easier job? I’m scared if I quit I won’t have enough money for rent and family expenses. I don’t have a big savings — only enough to live about a month and a half.
I want this to end without hurting my family, but I don’t want to keep putting up with unfair treatment either. What do you think? Share your experiences or tips on steps to talk to the boss — how to talk so there’s evidence or witnesses? Anyone been through this?
Sorry for the long post, maybe I’m just overthinking. hahaha
