Hi everyone, this is my very first time posting so sorry in advance if I ramble or make no sense. I’m 28 and work as a shop staff at a small store in Khon Kaen. Been here about two years, but lately I’ve been feeling really stressed about work—maybe I’m overthinking? Not sure.

So yesterday a customer came to pick up an item and said it was defective. I checked and it was just a tiny scratch, but the customer wanted an exchange/refund. When I went to talk to my boss, they told me to handle it myself. They didn’t really listen to my side and said if I don’t fix it well they’ll deduct my hours. I was like… why is it always me? I really don’t get it.

Some coworkers are totally indifferent like they don’t want to get involved, but some tease behind my back saying I’m paranoid or a scaredy-cat. I don’t know whether to be angry or embarrassed. When I get super annoyed I want to argue, but I’m also scared for my job. Jobs like this aren’t easy to find where I live.

Sometimes the boss expects way too much—like I have to do everything: stock, cashier, pack, and be responsible for returns. If there’s a problem they usually call me out and scold me in front of the other staff for a long time. I feel humiliated by that kind of talk. But if I try to ask for a private chat, I’m worried they’ll think I’m whining or not tough enough.

I feel like they keep giving me more responsibilities without warning, but whenever something goes wrong it’s always my fault. I do the tasks as I was taught, but the tiny details weren’t clearly explained. It feels like they toss work at me and just expect me to finish it, and then go silent.

It’s not that I want to be a know-it-all or try to be perfect in everything, but I also don’t want to be seen as lazy or complaining. I try my best, but incidents like this suck away my confidence. Am I overthinking? Should I talk to my boss directly? But if I do and nothing changes, why should I keep putting up with it… hmm I’m confused.

A coworker who left earlier messaged me asking why I looked sad. I answered vaguely about the store, and they said it’ll pass, but I still don’t feel better. Is this just a job where you have to accept being blamed all the time without any real teaching or praise?

Or am I just being overly sensitive? Do you guys have ways to talk to a boss so they understand how you feel without sounding weak or like a complainer? What should I do? Please give me some advice T_T

P.S. Sorry if this is too long — I’m honestly just confused whether this is a small thing or something I should take seriously.
