Thai-Korean mixed child — which language to teach first? Can they handle 3 languages?
Our child is 2 years old. Father is Korean mother is Thai and we live in Thailand. The child is just starting to talk. The problem is we do not know which language to teach first. Father speaks Korean mother speaks Thai and the nanny speaks Thai. At home we switch between Korean and Thai. The child is getting confused. Can say mae for mom and appa for dad. Vocabulary is mixed Thai and Korean. Worried the confusion will cause a speech delay. But a friend raising bilingual kids says children adapt. You just need to clearly separate who speaks what language using OPOL method. Anyone with experience raising 2 to 3 language kids please share advice.
