I've been married 5 years. Things with my husband are okay. We argue sometimes like any couple, but nothing major. I love him.

The problem is my mom.

The first year, my mom adored him. Years 2 and 3, she was neutral. Year 4, she started changing. Started asking: "How much does he give you each month?" "Why haven't you bought a bigger house?" "Why don't you have a nicer car yet?"

This year it's blatant. Every time I go home, she has something negative to say about him. "So-and-so's son-in-law bought his mother-in-law a house already." "That family takes their wife on overseas trips."

Last week she said it straight: "You're not getting anywhere with him. Just divorce. You're still young, find someone better."

I was shocked. My husband is a good man, family-oriented. He's just not rich. So my mom basically wants a rich son-in-law, doesn't she?
