Married 4 years. My parents live in another province, 5 hours by car. I go back once a month.

The first year, my husband came every time. My parents loved him so much that my mom said "I gained another son."

In the 2nd year the excuses started — busy with work, friends invited him out, not feeling well. Maybe 1-2 times out of 12. I didn't mind.

This year he hasn't come at all. Six full months. Not even once.

I asked him straight up. He said, "I'm just lazy to drive that far."

My parents started asking, "Did you two fight?" "Doesn't he like it here?" I keep making excuses for him every time.

Last time my mom said softly, hurt, "I'm not asking for much. I just want to see my son-in-law."

I feel guilty toward my parents every time I go alone. Why has he changed like this? I was the one chosen — because he married me, not my family. Right?
