It's 5 AM right now. Just got off the phone with my MIL, opened a thread to vent.

My mother-in-law calls me every morning at 5:30 AM. Says: "I wake up early so I worry about you. Just calling to say hi."

First few times, last year, picked up — okay, sweet of her.
Months later, started getting tired, but still picked up.
This year, every single day. Every day at 5:30 AM, the call comes.

Can't not pick up. Last time I didn't pick up, MIL called my husband. He woke up, got mad at me: "Why aren't you picking up Mom's call?"

Sometimes we talk for 5 minutes. Sometimes 30-40. From 5 AM to 6. About what she wants to talk about. Neighbors. The temple she went to.

After the call, can't sleep again. Have to get up, start getting ready for work. This year I've been sleeping 4-5 hours a night, every night.

I told my husband, can Mom call at 7 instead. He said: "Mom wants to talk in the morning. Just wake up earlier. Be a good daughter-in-law."

Does a good daughter-in-law not get to sleep?
